Leo Basile made a commitment to get fit more than five years ago. Since 1999, Leo has lost 180 pounds and completed an Ironman Triathlon, one of the most grueling activities in all sports. He truly did a “180.” Leo is now devoted to sharing his personal experience and inspiring others. Leo can relate to the pain and suffering that others experience from being overweight as well as the low self-esteem. Leo wants to help people in and around the city to become more active and achieve the lifestyle they have always wanted. Listen to what people around the Greater New Orleans area are saying about this local success story: “I haven’t seen Leo in years, then I read about his new outlook and success with fitness in The Times-Picayune. I called him up right away and asked for him to talk with my overweight son.” Mary, a concerned mom “I am not a runner, and up until a week ago I said I never would be. Leo taught me to ‘Set a goal, make a plan, and never look back.’ Now I am training to run the Chicago Marathon.” Ashley Barkley, UNO student “It was a pleasure doing the story, the energy came natural. You really are an inspiration and I was honored that you let me tell your story with so much enthusiasm.” Darrell Greene, FOX 8 Sportscaster “I felt that the students were listening and was pleased with some of the questions. I even had one student who came to me and said they walked 4 laps at recess today!” Maria Lambert, Teacher at St. Charles Elementary “Leo will make it as a motivational speaker! I know my students enjoyed his visit and will use his quote again and again.” Cathy Carter, Professor at Tulane University |
